Unboxing the boxes: Gift 1

This is my favourite of the gifts. It's a 10" figurine entitled Kill Cat which is based on the Kill Bill movies. In Kill Bill The bride (Uma Thurman) wears a yellow and black jump suit, sports a ninja sword and hacks down about 50 yakuza inside a Japanese restaurant - including the Yakuza boss (Lucy Liu) and her lolita school-girl sidekick. I can't find much information about this little guy online but I want it. It's expensive, but thats why its a collectible. RM240.

Unboxing the boxes: Gift 2

A company started selling birthday bears. Each month is a different color bear and each bear has a day of the month on it. The idea is that you get the birthday bear for your loved one - so its ultra personal. Yellow is for September. Price: RM15

Unboxing the boxes: Gift 3

This is a soft mummy, filled with polystyrene beans. Size is about 4 inches. Price RM10.

Unboxing the boxes: Gift 4

This is a cute little plastic ninja with evil eyes and an angry mouth. Its about 3 inches tall. Price - maybe RM10

Unboxing the boxes: Gift 5

This is a teacup, will a which plugs back into the saucer which contains a silicone receptacle. The whole thing can stand on its own. Probably around RM20.

Themed Tuesday : Water Bottles Part I

I saw this at the Nike shop. It's really nice because it has the Asian Cup logo with the countries involved. Also yellow and black is the National colours of the Malaysian football team. The team didn't do so well but the water bottle is excellent. I really like it but I can't really justify RM19.90 for a water bottle. Sorry.

Themed Tuesday : Water Bottles Part II

This bottle I got for free, with purchase of Horlicks. It's tiny - probably fits around 300ml. You can say that I paid for the bottle and got the Horlicks for free. I've had it for a while, but never posted it because I never used it. I was collecting dust, until I took it for a bike ride. RM12 for the Horlicks.

Themed Tuesday : Water Bottles Part III

Felton is a local manufacturer of stationery and also makes polycarbonate and aluminum bottles. It's MUCH cheaper than the expensive SIGG bottles. The SIGG bottles look nicer, but this will do. Price RM10.

Themed Tuesday : Water Bottles Part IV

Saw this water drinking bottle last month and decided it should be part of a themed tuesday. I missed doing it last week so here it is now. This one is plastic, with a unique curved spout. It looks quite nice for under RM10.

Karcher

Following up on logos and brands, this brand (Karcher)makes sucky appliances. Well they make vacuums and water pumps and they always make them yellow and black. Which is really good because they will automatically have me as a customer. If I had to choose between a plain old orange vacuum versus a yellow and black vacuum. You know what I'll pick.

Sit on it

Imagine my surprise when I walked into a office and saw... TWO meeting rooms filled with these yellow and black office chairs. They are kinda nice too with mesh backs, and arm rests. I can't stand an office chair without arm rests, I think they protect you from falling off the side, which is quite plausible if you happen to enjoy tilting back in your chair and putting your feet up on the table. The brand is something like MaryWeather or Mayweather. I'm not sure - I was focused on my meeting but I did manage to get the shot above. Price - probably around RM500 a piece. This office had eubic slots on the main meeting table. Luxury. Personally I think the chairs are UGLY. But they are yellow and black and that's what this site is about.

Beannie Baggie

I don't make it a point to get the price of every yellow and black thing I see. It's nice to have, but it's just too much effort. And if there's one thing I am against, it's effort. This bean bag beannie baby (because there is no other name to describe it) fits in your hand. It also has a pink cousin. I'm not sure what you would use it for. Maybe your phone can use it to sit on. Estimate price: RM10. Ok if you notice by now, the latest photos on this site have a watermark. I've noticed other bloggers have it on their photos. I figure I should have it too. So from now on, when its not too much effort, I'll watermark every photo posted so that people who steal it.... will have a hard time erasing it.

Collecting coins can cover costs of collectibles

I think the Chinese characters mean money box. I actually don't know the price of this money box but since it comes from a collectibles store its probably in the range of RM30. Besides that I really like to look of it. All the wording seems to be saying a lot of saving money, and probably a warning that taking the money out should be done carefully. It probably also has a philosophical treatise on the advantages of putting your money in a yellow and black box. I want it.

Blug blug blug

The picture isn't very good but this is the bottom half of a mini water dispenser. It's capacity is 8 glasses of water (I think 2 liters) which is the recommended daily water intake per day. You can fill the top part - which is a transparent mini water container with anything you like. A little too much effort to do everyday. But its an interesting idea anyway. I saw it at Jusco in Sunway Pyramid for around RM60.

Rabbits and yellow

In the world of Chinese Zodiac Animals, I am a rabbit. A gentle, peace-loving, cute, cuddly, sweet, rabbit. So a yellow rabbit toothpick dispenser is a great attraction to me. Pull on the rabbit ears, revealing a cup where toothpicks fall out to the side. Release the ears and the toothpicks fall back down, hidden from view. The rabbit eyes are black which completes the yellow and black look. Get it from SJ or other 'lifestyle' stores. These stores sell an inordinate number of toothpick dispensers - as if, the current template for toothpick dispensers need a redesign.

m&m&m&m&m&m

This is a no-brainer. Yellow and black chocolate goodness. Saw these m&m tin cases containing about 50 m&m's. They are more of a novelty than an actually food item - because of the price RM7.90. That's some expensive chocolates - but really I bought it for the tin. I don't have the chocolates anymore - but I ate them so they are still OWNED.

Score with these

It's been a dryspell of yellow and black things. Ironically its not because there are fewer yellow and black things. It's because there are too many. What makes yellow and black so appealing? These football boots are appealing. I like the design but there's a bit too much yellow for my liking. Not that I play football. Price RM250.

A weird themed tuesday part 1

I've been waiting for this themed tuesday. In fact I have another candidate but I'll delay that another week because I have one more entry for that category. I'll begin by saying that I don't wear women's shoes, but if I did, I wouldn't wear these. This particular shoe appeals to yellow and black enthusiasts as well as Apple fan boys. It has a striking art deco inspired yellow apple at the toe, and features a rounded toe end and simple design throughout. The golden insole conveys the ultimate luxury. Price RM40.

A weird themed tuesday part 2

This is another delicate example of yellow and black with a yellow lace pattern all around the shoe. The frilly ball at the toe shows a wild and cute side to the highly-cultured simplistic yet elegant design of the shoe. Price RM40.

A weird themed tuesday part 3

I'm learning to post themed Tuesdays in reverse. This is actually the first post but nevermind. This delightful platform shoe, features a cute yellow bow in front, which is laced all around the shoe by a thick yellow ribbon. The platform portion is made from a weaved pattern material which gives the shoe an ethnic look. Note the intricate pattern on the golden insole. Price: RM50.

Is this the motherload?

Surfing surfing surfing, I stumbled upon Colorware, a company located at 2050 W 4th St. Winona, MN 55987 USA who colors your stuff for about USD99. Of course you can also buy stuff pre-colored including this Playstation 3. Cost of the yellow 40gb Playstation 3 is USD525. Is this cheating? Kinda. They also have the Wii for for USD435 and the XBox360 Elite for USD585.

Are you kidding me?

I didn't believe it myself but a yellow and black iphone? Of course its only a casing on top of your regular iPhone. Price: USD50. If I had an iPhone I'd definately want one of these.

Cool by a factor of 2

I saw these mini fridges at Rooms in Midvalley. They always have interesting stuff there. I also wanted a fridge for the office to keep my salads and sandwiches cold, since the last one broke down and the ice cream in there melted and created a big stink. This one had a price tag for RM120. But the sales guy said, the normal price is RM500. This one was cheaper because its BROKEN. Sigh. Still.... sigh.

Oh tannebaum

It's not even December yet. But here's some early Christmas decorations at the local mall. A yellow Christmas tree with black (the wire is) lights. Not much to say about this except hallelujah.

Lust mobile

After I posted that entry about my helmet, I went back to search for the Gary Fisher bike I didn't get. This isn't it. It's a higher end model but in the same colour scheme. The Tassajara price USD620. The one I was going to get was the Marlin - which is a beginner bike. I put this in my wanted category - which features things that I WANT.

Swatch promise

As promised, here is the yellow and black Swatch collection from 2007. It's really a shame that Swatch doesn't have enough pride in their designs to archive their complete design on the web. It's probably in a coffee-table book somewhere. Maybe they are afraid of copy cats stealing their designs and selling knock-offs for 10% of the price. I think they should embrace the knock off market. It just makes their originals worth more. As much as I like yellow and black, I have to say that most of these watches are fugly. My favourite of the bunch would be overtaking flou. Prices between RM175 and RM440.

It's not easy being yellow

It's not easy being a yellow and black obessessed fanatic. I spotted yellow and black Swatches at the Swatch shop and tried to take pictures but the sales girl stopped me and said.... no picture taking. Fine... you don't want me to blog about your ugly yellow and black watches and give you free publicity? I'll just go to your website and get the pics from there. Normally I prefer photos which I've taken myself. Just to prove that I saw them with my own eyes. But since I was illegally requested not to take photos of their merchandise, I will respect that and steal those images from their website instead. Fair use! Failing that, I'll just buy the watches (RM400) and photograph items which I own in the privacy of my own home.

Maybank Smart for two

I started a new category recently where I post corporate logos and brands which feature yellow and black colours. Maybank in Malaysia is of course the most recognisable logo in yellow and black mainly because it's the biggest bank in Malaysia. I haven't posted their logo but I will. For now you can look at their yellow and black Maybank-branded Smart for Two car. Approximate price for a Smart for Two car in Malaysia is RM60k.

Keep your head protected at all times

I bike. That is, I cycle... occasionally. When I was looking around for a bike, naturally I wanted a yellow and black bike - which I found. It was a Gary Fisher but it cost RM2,500. I settled for an ordinary Silver and Black Giant Iguana for RM1,800but I did get a silver, yellow and black bike helmet. I still regret not getting the Gary Fisher. Maybe my next bike will be yellow and black. Unfortunately nobody has contributed to my blog yet. Would you be the first?

Snipering

While leaving the LRT system, I spotted a lady carrying a yellow and black bag. So naturally I surrepticiously pulled out my camera and snapped her bag. If that sounds a little creepy to you, I would agree. But I've been a little dry with yellow and black things lately.

Do you know where you are?

Guess what this is? Ok. The label beside it gives it away. Personal Tracking Device. It looks like a pad lock. I suppose you strap this around your elderly aunt, and you can find out instantly where she is via GPS, or maybe via GSM location. Incidentally there seems to be a call button on the device but no number pad to dial. Perhaps its only for accepting incoming calls and making a call to a special number. The idea is great for the right application - aging aunts and promiscuious teens. I wonder if the future will see a demand for these devices. I hope not.

Trailblazing a new category

I'm not grasping but it seems there a a lot of companies which have yellow and black logos. The combination seems as natural as PI and has become a favourite of roadsign makers, taxi cab companies, and graphic design firms. This is a original rendition of the logo for California Pizza Kitchen at KLCC.

The throne of the yellow and black king

Imagine someone who would purchase and install a yellow toilet in his house. This is indeed a king. We have, for better or for worse, a very intimate relationship with our toilet. I've hatched a good many world changing ideas on the toilet, read many a good book, and dropped... well... let's just say I might have contributed to the amount of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere.

This to me is a beautiful toilet, which I would be proud to have in my home for the paltry sum of RM999. Suitably named 'Gold' for the golden throne of the king of all things yellow and black. After seeing this, an idea popped into my head. A bathroom of black tile, and yellow and black sanitaryware and fixtures. Oh snap!

Assorted undersink sinks

Underneath megasink two are two other smaller bowl sinks. I didn't get the prices. I should be more diligent in this stuff. Perhaps its the euphoria of finding things I didn't think existed. Yellow sinks? Unbelievable. I'd estimate between RM400-RM800 for these sinks.

Megasink two

This sink is more myself. Megasink two. I realize blogs aren't great for reading things in sequence. You'll just have to make do. Megasink two features two squarish bowls in ceramic. I like it but I prefer sinks built into the counter. Not necessarily in yellow however. You can't really make out the price tag here but its about RM1,600.

Megasink one

After walking about the huge KLCC exhibition halls, We stumbled on a booth, with loads of yellow sanitaryware. A goldmine! This is Megasink one - very big, one piece ceramic sink in yellow. Comes with the legs I assume in black and chrome. Cost: RM1199. It's not really my style. I prefer straight lines.

Another themed tuesday - Sanitaryware

Welcome to another edition of themed-tuesdays where yellow and black items follow a specific theme. This week's theme is Sanitaryware (ceramic plumbing fixtures (as sinks, lavatories, or toilet bowls). I was able to attend a Home Decoration Expo in KLCC last Sunday and found these awesome specimens - I'll start with the first item I saw, a yellow sink bowl made from glass. Price? I don't know. It's glass so I'm guessing around RM400. It would be a nice little item to have around the house if you weren't obsessed with yellow and black things.

Zoom to the vroom

A lot of fast things are painted in yellow and black. This Yamaha for example, was spotted in Bangsar. If you ask me to price it - I'd say Rm40,000.

Something you don't see

Here is something you don't see everyday. A yellow and black bride and groom. Sure other brides have worn yellow gowns, but for me to show up at their wedding is why this photo is here.

How much is that

Saw this cute yellow and black doggie in the window. Is it as cute as the bear? Didn't check out the price but my estimate is RM40.

Jumping yellow and black

In case you ever want to jump rope in style, here is a yellow and black skipping rope. They had dumbbells too but I think I'll save that for another time. Guesstimate pricing RM20.

Reebok balls

I thought my yellow and black nike basketball would be the only yellow and black basketball I'd ever see but here is one from Reebok. Don't know the price but it would be the same as most other basketballs - RM40.

Happier by Tal Ben-Shahar

This is a short (192 pages) but interesting book about how we view, interpret, and strive for happiness. It tells us that happiness is the ultimate currency. We search for money, because we think money can buy us happiness. Sometimes our search for money is at the expense of the very thing we want money to buy - happiness. But in reality, the happiness level of rich and middle-class and poor people are roughly the same - with the exception of people in extreme poverty. We adapt to our situation and find happiness regardless of how much money we have. So it's misguided to strive for a good career and wealth just for the sake of money - because money.... can't buy ... everlasting happiness. It buys happiness that is fleeting. It lasts as long as your money does. Read this book!

Faster by James Gleick

It's been a week since my last update. This just shows that I am NOT obsessed with updating this blog with yellow and black things. I also don't read books just because they are yellow and black. They just happen to have yellow and black covers. This one I read several years ago. It's about how in the modern times, things seem to happen faster. We have so many modern conveniences. We have cars that shorten the time taken to travel from one place to another. But paradoxically, the faster we do things, the less time we have to do them. Compare how much leisure time people 100 years ago had versus how much leisure time we have? What use are our time saving devices, if we only use the time we save to do more work? Sure we are productive but are we happy. As books usually do, this one costs about RM60 - GBP8.99. Bought it from MPH in Midvalley.

Unflyable bat

I tried to fly this bat last year but was unsuccessful. This kite cost RM5 from the dollar store. The string cost another RM5.

Towels

Fresh towels are soft and luxurious. I used to pull my warm towels out of the dryer and just sink into them on cold days. This is a pair of hand towels from Ikea RM12.90 each. I bought the yellow one for Sunbeam.
